Modifying Facebook Wi-Fi settings

Facebook Wi-Fi service is only relevant to the guest network. It offers the possibility to create a captive portal page that draws traffic to the business. The business information would appear in the person’s feed when using the service and automatically be seen by related friends thus attracting more people towards the business.

NOTE: Apple Captive Network Assistant (CNA) does not support the Facebook Wi-Fi service. Users with Apple devices running macOS 10.12.x will need to manually open a web browser and enter a URL of their choice in order to be redirected to the Facebook Wi-Fi sign-in page.

Configuring the Facebook Wi-Fi service

To configure Facebook Wi-Fi service on the HPE OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal mobile app or web application, follow these steps:

In the mobile app

1.

Click Networks from the HPE OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page.

Select the active Guest Network connections.

3.

Under Secured Using, select the No Security tab.

4.

Click the information () icon to Use Facebook Wi-Fi. A pop-up box will appear on the screen requesting you to switch to the web application to configure Facebook Wi-Fi.

In the web application

1.

Click Networks from the HPE OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal home page.

2.

Select one of the active Guest Network connections.

3.

Under the Identification page, ensure that the No Security tab is selected for security.

4.

Click the Facebook Wi-Fi toggle switch to turn it on ().

NOTE: The Facebook Wi-Fi setting will appear on the screen only when the No Security option is selected.

5.

Some additional configuration is required when the Facebook Wi-Fi option is enabled for the first time. A pop-up box will appear on the page.

6.

Click Configure. The Facebook Wi-Fi ID is generated and stored in the HPE OfficeConnect Wi-Fi Portal site.

7.

A new browser window opens up with a page for the Facebook Wi-Fi configuration.
